An Americana Tour de Force with bona fide Southern swagger, Martha Fields brings her ghosts to life in her new album “DANCING SHADOWS” (to be released September, 2018). Martha illuminates her past and present in this ambitious project - 14 songs and 2 continents, awash in dark and moody tones, saturated with strong, defiant characters, overflowing with grit and soul, sprinkled with the occasional honky tonk respite, all generously infused with her own authentic southern groove.
Carving her own route through the “Americana” terrain of folk, blues, country, rock and bluegrass, Martha recorded with her touring, dream team of musicians at the top of their craft. Manu Bertrand, Serge Samyn, Urbain Lambert, Olivier Leclerc and Denis Bielsa - all able to equally render the bittersweet beauty of her ballads as well as the bodacious bluesy and rocking repetoire. With dobro, lap steel, guitar, slide, double bass, violin, drums and the occasional mandolin and pedal steel, her band perfectly compliment her emotionally charged vocals with their stellar playing. Monica Taylor (the Cimmaron Songbird) and Travis Fite, both Okies with Cherokee blood, provide luscious harmonies. With her musical roots running deep in both Appalachia and Texas, Martha and her superb band take you on a passionate, soulful, winding voyage through the American South.

MARTHA FIELDS (Austin, Texas) Singer/Songwriter/Acoustic Guitar
Marty is an award winning singer, songwriter whose first memory is singing harmony while sitting on her mother's lap in the hills of Appalachia. Born with folk and country music in her blood, she comes from a long line of singers, musicians and luthiers from the hills of Eastern Kentucky and West Virginia. A self taught guitarist, Marty started writing songs at an early age. She has shared the stage with Ricky Lee Skaggs and Merle Travis and after two successful tours in Europe, Marty is based part of the year in Bordeaux, France. This Texas troubadour pours out her soul in every song and transports her audience on an authentic southern musical journey. She is the real deal!
Southern White Lies (currently #2 on the EuroAmericana Charts) finds Fields looking into another aspect of her heritage, her mother’s lineage that goes back to the first white settlers in Kentucky and West Virginia. As reflected in the album’s artwork, the young Fields spent much of her formative years listening to music being played on the family porch back in Wayne County, WV. Southern White Lies pays tribute to the Appalachian music of her childhood with Fields and the band unplugged; dobro, fiddle and banjo replacing pedal steel and Telecaster twang. While they might have swapped the honky tonks for a front porch feel there's no let-up in the energy unleashed, Fields' powerful voice commands a set that features strong soloing over tight and intricate crackerjack dobro, fiddle, banjo, guitar, resonator, mandolin and double bass.
Southern While Lies is a gutsy Americana exposition, a state of the nation address from the underclass that incorporates country blues, gospel, folk, and bluegrass delivered with conviction. Recorded with Fields' regular band (Manu Bertrand, dobro, banjo, mandolin, guitar; Urbain Lambert, guitar; Olivier Leclerc, violin; Serge Samyn, bass fiddle and Denis Bielsa drums) before harmonies from Travis Fite and Monica Taylor (the Cimarron Songbird) were added in Tulsa then mixed and mastered by the renowned musician, producer and engineer, Tommy Detamore, in Floresville, Texas.
